May flowers in May

These are pretty blossoms growing near the castle (but it looks like some rampant mutating ivy is encroaching...)
It always reminds me of going on long walks with my dad and the dog, armed with buckets and clippers, to collect the flowers (also elder flowers a bit later) which he made into quite successful sparkling wines.
Wine making was a big hobby of his for several years.
In the Autumn - rose hip, elderberry and blackberries were all collected and were successful wines too.
I remember he made ginger beer too and that it exploded all over the garage one hot summer!

Alex is all packed up and his clothing laid out ready to throw on. He has to be delivered out into the wilds of Kent by 7:30 tomorrow and picked up Sunday about 2pm. So...early night for him tonight. Unfortunately high winds and heavy rain is forecast most of the week-end....
It was windy enough to have the washing off the line today but sunny still... Hmm poor boys!
