CCC: Hoverfly on a Poppy

See the patterns in the ommatidia of its compound eye in large ("L").

I found this hoverfly on this rather fiery orange poppy: I love their domed eyes, and the fact that they meet in the middle means that it is a male... Females have smaller eyes so they don't meet in the middle and appear further apart.

Hoverfly: Stigmas in focus too; From the side; Whole flower
Woodlouse: Patterned & On a path (= alternative)
Flowers: Gladioli & Allium
