Don't Pay The Ferryman

"... the lightning flashed, and the thunder roared"
Chris de Burgh

Amazing downpour today, floods in Cwmbran made the news too. Thunder rolled in to herald the hailstones and torrential downpour of rain. The road outside like a river with gravel and stones washed down from the mountainside above. It went on for about an hour and a half I suppose, faded then came back again.

K and B turned up unexpectedly, they'd been having lunch in The P Hotel, and weren't able to get home for about an hour because of the floods and queues of traffic.

Started to subside about 4pm and I drove B home about 4.30 - still traffic problems around Cwmbran and flooding locally, took three about turns before I made it through. The clearing skies always an opportunity for beautiful light after rain, so on the way home I took a detour up to the "new" cemetery above Hollybush. Tremendous open views of the surrounding countryside, remember K2 telling me she'd been to this area camping out under the stars, before it was a cemetery of course. Views to die for comes to mind....

The cloudscapes towards Newport were impressive, with the clouds building up for miles, reaching up into the heavens.
