A Day Worth Recording

Up, Up and Away

Duxford Air Show - for the D-Day Anniversary.

Two fighters, one historic spitfire, one current Eurofighter. Go large.

We've lived in Cambridge for over 25 years and occasionally visited Duxford as a museum - but we'd never actually been to an air show so we thought we really ought to get around to it. Ellis, and Margaret, a friend from up north, joined us.

Although I'm not especially interested in aircraft and/or WW2 memorabilia as such, the engineer in me had a very enjoyable day; and the weather was perfect.

The modern craft did things that really cannot be possible; especially for a helicopter.

The black & white stripes - as I learnt today - were a feature of the D-Day invasion. Essentially an easy identification code across all allied aircraft to work out who not to shoot at during what was going to be chaos.

The stripes on the eurofighter are for this year only, to mark the anniversary.

I'll put some more pictures up on Flickr eventually; and it seems capturesasecond was there too.

In the evening, fancying something light, we watched UP - as Margaret hadn't seen it.
