Blip Postcard #16 ......... In England's .......

............. Green and Pleasant Land.
(from the poem "Jerusalem" by William Blake)

#16 (from the plane) - backblipped on Monday morning!!

Greener Land .................

The view as we were coming in to land at Gatwick at around 10.30 this morning. Not quite as long a flight back home (we came a different way - over Texas, Tennessee, Virginia , New York city then across the Atlantic) ..... warm and sunny weather to greet us - border control and baggage reclaim to navigate, coach to the long stay car park - and then the three and a half hour drive home - a bit of shopping done, Shadow collected and in the house by 4pm.

We travelled on the new 787 Dreamliner - in my opinion, much over-hyped!
Slightly more legroom in economy and very smart, larger windows that you can adjust for brightness and dimness yourself (until the crew decide that "everyone wants to sleep" and they override that facility) but the seats themselves seem narrower, with VERY narrow armrests - the backs are shaped much like a racing car with curved sides which means, if you have a wide-ish back you are never fully resting against the back of the seat (not comfortable at all) and the dropdown table is lower.

The seating configuration on this particular plane was 3:3:3 - which means that the tour company's charge for 'sitting together' can mean couples being across the aisle from one another or families sitting in front/behind other family members - bit of a cheek to charge for this I think. I managed to pre-secure (at a charge) window and middle seats, behind the wing, on both legs of the journey so we were okay.

I wouldn't rush or particularly choose to fly on this plane again.

Anyway, after that little moan, we are safely home. The grass in the back garden is about a foot high (I exaggerate slightly) and I cut it just before we left - must be the warm wet weather UK have had - so that is this afternoon's number one job.

Had a great holiday but it's also nice to be home - especially with Shadow back - think he must have had a blast too as all he has done is snooze!!!!

MonoMonday is "Weather" - well, we have some but it's not going to be the most interesting photograph when I get around to doing it - the sky is a flat, dull grey at the moment!!

Thanks to you all for sticking with me over the past couple of weeks.
