Cloud Pruning

I don't know whether you enjoy trimming hedges? Maybe it's getting the trimmers out once a year or maybe you take a pride in snipping with a pair of shears. Not me!

Here at the Chateau de Marqueyssac they have miles of box hedging. It's not all quite as beautifully trimmed as this bit but it's a lot more than I fancy doing. Lady Marian's always loved these beautiful hedges which often feature in magazines, so when we realised that the place was just a 40 minute drive from where we're staying we headed off to see it. We were both a bit pissed off that having set off sharpish to get there, we couldn't even get a coffee because they don't open the cafe until 12.00 Hooray for our National Trust!

We headed off to Beynac for lunch and sat in a cafe by the river. We did get a meal but they didn't seem to be coping very well with the pressure. Although it's officially just an ordinary day after yesterday's holiday, who's going to have a day off on a Thursday and go back to work for the Friday. No, I don't thinks so, so it's a long weekend and probably best to stay away from central Dordogne on such a day.

We seem to have got back at the right time as the rain's threatening now. I hope it will rain this evening a give us a nice clear day for Saturday as that's our last day here before we head off up to Brittany for a couple of days before our ferry back on Tuesday.

I hope you're all set for 'Le Weekend'.

David
