Greeway

Heading south along the Greenway today. This path takes in some old and pretty villages and some stretches which are genuinely very green. It also has spectacular views of the lake as the Greenway winds up the hillside. Some of the hills are very steep, for others this may only be "quite steep", but for me the words are "very steep". The villages are very quaint or picturesque, and if we do the walk again I will be able to post another picture to two.

Unfortunately in some fairly short stretches it is forced to take the main lakeside road as the only available path. The busy lakeside road is never very wide, and often does not have a pavement for walkers, so it can be slightly unnerving. Fortunately just about everybody driving along this road is ready to expect cyclists and stray walkers.

Today we went as far Sala Comacina, maybe a couple of miles from Lenno. From there we took a boat over to Isola Comacina the only island in Lake Como. This is mainly a nature reserve, but there is a restaurant and bar. We stopped at the bar for a snack before getting the ferry back to Lenno.
