Scrolls

"Patterns of Thought" by Helga Winter at Waterstone Gallery.

There is a tradition of writing prayers on a piece of paper, rolling it up, and slipping it into a crevice in the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. I have done this myself. A friend who'd been trying to have a child for fourteen years got pregnant shortly after I prayed for her in this way, and she's convinced my prayers for her at the Wailing Wall are what did the trick.

This artwork reminds me of that experience. I also like the subtle coloration and the subtle variations in the little scrolls.
