Gold

The clouds were gathering as went out to do a bit of work in the garden and the light that was coming through made the colours of the california poppies shine out, so before beginning, I went under the back porch and along the path which runs between the back of the house and the garden. Standing down here puts your head level with the garden, so it was ideal for this shot along the border in front of the shed.

The foreground flowers are the blue geraniums and in the background there are a few pink geraniums and a few grandmother's bonnets. They frame the california poppies beautifully.

The bluebells have all gone to seed now, so my job was to pull the stalks up before they set even more seeds - they already fill the beds where they grow - and then to pull up the foliage which blankets the ground where they were growing, cutting off the light to everything else. I managed to get the stalks pulled up, but a really heavy shower came through before I'd finished and by the time it was past, it was time to cook the tea - so that's another job for in the week.
