Big top

Today we went to the final day of Promaude, the local agricultural show. It's changed over the years, and now seems to have less emphasis on wine and more on other agricultural products from small producers. Our friend Peter was there promoting his organic herbs and there were also stands selling honey, olive oil, charcuterie, poultry, goat's cheese, herb cordials, ice cream made from sheep's cheese, and more. Lots of tasting was on offer and we had lunch at the producers' marquee where they were doling out roast suckling pig and kid.

An innovation this year was the dedicated wine-tasting area, which is housed in a beautiful vintage circus tent. We'd had enough to drink by then, but we went in to admire it anyway. Go large to see the selfie, and here's a detail of the beautiful decorations. As we wandered around we met our favourite banda, Goulamas. for some reason they were all disguised as insects, so I could have done a third bug blip in a row, but decided not to. And we finished off the afternoon by watching the dog agility. Although I have no desire to own a dog myself, I always enjoy watching this: happy dogs, and their rapport with their owners is a delight to see.

Feeling a bit knackered now; I think it's the heat and humidity.
