Cardinal Meadowhawk

This is the Cardinal Meadowhawk who paid a visit to our front yard and patiently sat on this plant for the longest time while I merrily snapped away. I changed cameras and this is my Canon Elph which actually did better on the closeup shots. The wings of dragonflies are so beautiful. The bodies are somewhat alien looking and very mechanical, as if put together in an insect body shop.

A glorious day in the Pacific NW today. Cooler days approach with some chance of sprinkles. That's okay, we need to water the grass.
