For the Birds

Fergus the dog is moulting. He is losing his summer undercoat. As we walk I tug little loose tufts of soft hair out of his coat and drop it on the ground. His moult is progressing faster than I can keep up with and he is starting to look just a little scruffy.
So today I went to the Vet Centre and bought a new, strong metal comb for him. I can carry it in the pocket of my jacket. When we got to the river I gave him a good combing. Here is some of the soft hair…. Such a pretty shade of cream and gold. We have left it for the birds. They may well fly down and gather some in order to use it to make warm cosy little linings for their nests. I think it is very generous of Fergus to share his hair…..just for the birds...
