Poppies

We set off to look for poppies today. As soon as we started driving, it started to pour with rain - which wasn't what I was expecting. However, by the time we reached our first destination, Heartwood Forest at Sandridge, near St Albans, the rain had eased off and for the rest of the day, although there appeared to be a continued threat of rain, the weather actually remained reasonably pleasant.

The raindrops on the poppies looked pretty good though (no need to carry around a spray bottle with me!). Hit L on your keyboard to view the large image.

Although we spent some time during the day driving round the lanes of rural Hertfordshire, we didn't see any fields full of poppies as we have done in previous years. However, there were plenty of clusters of poppies at the edge of fields and along the roadsides. You can see my Flickr album of images from the day here.
