Belmont Park

I have a lot of free time while I am on vacation is San Diego. I force myself to go out and go for walks at least once a day. One of my favorite places is Mission Beach. I always end up parking at Belmont Park, mostly for convenience, but I have to admit that I feel a little bit of excitement every time I step under the wooden roller coaster and pass the carousel before heading out to the beach. There is is definitely a nostalgic feeling of a time long past surrounding the park. Built in 1925, the park has that old carnival feel that is hard to find in today's world of billion dollar theme parks. It has changed dramatically since its early days, and most things have been upgraded or replaced, but still, you can't help but be reminded of a simpler time, when people weren't as bored and jaded, and it didn't take all the bells and whistles to impress them. What remains of the park is simple good old-fashioned family fun and it is yet another of the many reasons San Diego is such a charming city.
