Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

The Boat Adventure

We got up at 4:30am as we were more than a little stressed with the prospect of loading and driving the antique 34 ft rowing shell on our car from Seattle to the gulf Islands for delivery to our neighbor. and picking up the grandsons first. We left an hour for anything extra at the border etc but there were no questions asked (!) so we were the first in line for the ferry! …… and the last to load as they decided to have us back (the kayak they called it!) in at the end. An extra wonderful bonus was seeing blipper Nanzy19 at the ferry and on the boat, coming back to Saltspring from a family weekend!! a surprise blip meet!! All in all, it couldn’t have been much smoother - a nice day, no wind, not much traffic, a pleasant border crossing (they were mostly concerned how the grandsons were getting home!) and the neighbor/owner and his son were waiting for us as we handed off the boat and they deciding to just carry it on their boat in very calm conditions over to our island. (hence, the blip!)

The boys were so excited to be here this summer, checked everything out everywhere, already started some projects in the studio, some beach time, some rodding around in the inflatable and this afternoon they even watched the US-Portugal soccer game on the one channel our TV has.
For the first time ever, I used a (new) rice cooker (an attempt at simplifying the dreaded cooking) and they ate every morsel. Yea! and Oskar, bless his loving heart said I made the cooking into a great design - “it looks like a flower” (with the salad and stir fry rice…) NO one has EVER said anything like that before about something I have made!!

Now however, I’m hanging on the ropes, they are watching some bit of movie and expecting a chapter of Jean Craighead George's “On the other side of the Mountain” In a few minutes.

Last but not least, a big THANK YOU to everyone who left such nice wishes for me on yesterday's 1500 blipday! I do appreciate each and every one and am working my way (slowly) through all your journals!
