Lancaster Castle

Midsummer Day, and I found myself inside Lancaster Castle watching an open-air production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, performed by students of Lancaster University where my cousin is a lecturer.

The weather was glorious, which was a real bonus for performers and audience alike, and it was great fun to sit on the (artificial) grass and watch the action take place all around us.

No photographs were permitted during the performance, so I settled for a picture of the battlements above the main gate of the castle, which served for some time as HMP Lancaster.
