The Hunchback of Notre Dame

“The sixth of January, 1482, is not, however, a day of which history has preserved the memory. There was nothing notable in the event which thus set the bells and the bourgeois of Paris in a ferment from early morning.”:
Victor Hugo, The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Victor Hugo’s novel was made into a film in 1939 starring Charles Laughton as the Hunchback and Maureen O’Hara as Esmeralda. Another one I would have watched with my Dad on a Sunday afternoon.

These are not the bells of Notre Dame. These pretty and colourful Canterbury (wrong cathedral) bells are growing in profusion in my garden.
