Last Day...

Just as i didn't believe you were old enough to start school on your FIRST DAY, I can't quite believe you are old enough to leave now your last day is here!

Like your first day at school, the sun shone and you smiled broadly. And like your first day at school, I have spent the day with my mascara smudged all over my face!

Ken & Mandy (school bus driver and Escort) arrived at the usual time and declared it the end of an era.

You were more than happy to pose for a photo with them as you prepared, for the last time, to slap Mandy's backside as she bent over to clamp your wheelchair to the floor of the bus!!

And you were off. Last day. Again, like your first day it was only three hours long and once again for me it involved cups of tea at the kitchen table.

In the blink of an eye you were back.

We said our goodbyes to Ken and Mandy . I even managed not to embarrass myself or you by controlling my emotions beautifully. Well until I opened the first of the bundle of good luck cards in your school bag. It was from Susan, one of your classroom helpers and the bit that got me was this....

Every now and then along comes a pupil who is very, very special and becomes one of your favourites. Yes, that's you Mr L! I will miss you very much and wish you had joined us many years before.

My experience of working with the happy, handsome and very, very clever boy who doesn't suffer fools gladly will be a fond memory for many years to come."

The damn burst.

But I'm fine now. Honest. :-))

So dinner will be had, uniform will come off for the last time, we will have our usual Thursday evening of nothing much.

And tomorrow we will step into the future. Together.

I love you my baby, my boy, my young man and I am SO proud of you. More that you will ever know xxxx
