Kite Surfers

Despite all the forecasts we had a good day cycling along the causeway at Portland Bill to Fortunes Well. there were lots of wind and kite surfers enjoying the sun and sea.
We had a sandwich outside the little cafe at the end of the prom past the cove house Inn with an uninterrupted veiw of the sea. unfortunately the brakes started to stick on my bike so it needs a service but it was fun to get moving again!
Later in the evening we sat on the stone wall protecting the beach and were chatted to by alovely lad of 10 who enthusiastically regaled us with his 'finds' - a cuttle fish and some empty fish egg cases. A local fisherman - one of the last singlehanded fishermen left on that part of the coast talked about Portland in days gone by - he loved the area but lamented the loss of a fishing fleet and the rise of the tourist. A lovely character.
