Emma

This is Emma, my great niece born 4 days before Mum died. She has a firm grip on my finger!

Emma and her parents had a challenging 7 months before she was born prematurely. Mum saw a photo of Emma tucked up in her incubator and in the final 2 days of her life we told her of Emma's milestones. Mum would give a hint of a smile.

Emma is an absolute delight. Easy, content, curious and full of smiles; she's a wee miracle and very cute.

Visiting Emma was a good outcome for a day where the weather scuttled our plans to visit the Maritime Museum on the Auckland waterfront.

I also knocked off a bit of scone baking. Dad has 20 something date scones in the freezer. Oh, and put 12 servings of pea and ham soup I made yesterday in the freezer too, and there is an extra meal from tonight's dinner.

Yes Mum, we're looking after Dad.
