White-Breasted Nuthatch

The White-Breasted Nuthatch's  habit is to wedge a seed into a crevice to crack it open.  It has especially long rear claws which enables it to hop down tree trunks head first, allowing them to see insects and insect eggs that other birds may miss.

The bird in the background is a Cactus Wren.
