An Edinburgh tram

Today I saw my first Edinburgh tram in the flesh, so to speak, outside Haymarket Station. The saga of the convoluted process to achieve a service - even a fairly limited one - has taken up reams of newsprint, businesses ruined and streets turned into building sites for years on end. The entire project was almost scrapped in 2007. The photo shows a benign sight - one clean, shiny vehicle and one calm, relaxed potential passenger. This was what it was all about in the end!

I liked the way the colours of the chap's jacket chimed with the tenement stone across the street and his dark top and trousers matched the tram's neutral colours creating a harmonious street scene.
