Half In or Half Out

20.1C with rain all morning culminating in a thunderstorm around noon. Clearing quickly in the afternoon to long sunny spells. Light breeze.

Maeve the Deerhound and I went for our walk after lunch, once the thunderstorm had passed and the streets had mostly dried up. We went down the road to the cycle path, along to the level crossing and down to the beach.

Walking along the sand towards Westhaven we met one dog walker, and a lady playing on the beach with a little girl. We saw more dog walkers in the distance.

I took this shot as we were just about to head off back over the road bridge across the railway. We were there halfway between high tides and wondered whether the tide was half in or was it half out.

There is enough water for this shot to clearly show the channels through the rocks that the fishermen use. The main channel is on the left of the picture and runs in to where the white boat is sitting on the sand near the beach. Then there is a secondary channel that comes straight in to where Shamara II is on the seaweed and then runs off to one side where you can see Silver Cat and the other white boat Catherine Anne. In this side channel the boats get some shelter from the rocks in rougher weather.
