Flour and Flowers With A Pinch Of Salt

I had to deliver some papers to the agent in Fullbridge, Maldon who we have chosen to sell Mother's house. The office is in the old toll house just out of the right of my pic.

There's a lovely old Grade II listed restored flour mill on the left which has been converted to offices. I love that the huge copper-clad ventilation cowls on the roof have been preserved. A bit further down on the left is the working Carr's flour mill. This place is a strange mix of the dilapidated and the pristine.

Out of sight on the right hand bank of the Chelmer is the Maldon Salt Company. It is still operated from a series of black weather-boarded sheds. The original chimney still stands. The pyramidal crystals are exported all over the world. Trade was boosted by the Delia effect.
