Fate Still Unknown

I had to go out late this morning so stopped off in the city for a few shots. There was a very cold wind blowing so didn't walk far. The badly damaged Town Hall has been in the news in the last few days so thought it could make a interesting blip for the day.

John seems back to himself again and even went and did some bookings for our holiday to Cairns and the Gold Coast in a couple of weeks time. It will be so great to get away from the cold for a couple of weeks.

The Christchurch Town Hall opened in 1972 and since 2007 it was formally known as the Christchurch Town Hall of the Performing Arts. It is located on the banks of the Avon River overlooking Victoria Square. The earthquakes badly damaged it and they were going to repair it.

The city council was supposed to have started seeking expressions of interest from companies keen to be involved in the hall's $127.5 million restoration project in May. Instead.. yesterday we heard it has put that process on hold due to its uncertain financial position.

The town hall was insured for $69.1m, but the cost of repairing it has been calculated at $127.5m.
