Ben Geary

Honestly, not stage managed at all, Mrs SJR didn’t know I was pushing the button here. The tramp to the top of Ben Geary is about 1km from the road side. Net ascent must be about 180 metres, thus it is about half of one Bohuntin Hill. The numbers don’t tell the whole story though. Having made the top earlier this week I was able to reasonably describe the underfoot conditions to Mrs SJR. The ground is soft and spongy with long grass and heather. The action required to climb the wee hill is more akin to wading and does not favour shorter legs at all.
The summit is ruined by a transmitter mast but the views from this modest summit are superb. You see the Uists, Harris and, given that this almost at the tip of the peninsula, sparkling sea on three sides.
There were no complaints about the view.
