The second half of life..

By twigs

Tennis anyone?

We're now into the second week of the first grand slam event of the year and already my eyes are bleary from all the TV viewing!

I'm no tennis player (can you tell by the racquet - tee hee?!!) but I love watching the artistry, athleticism and drama behind the big games.

The Aussie open is an amazing event (which I shall attend live one day!) and in the often searing heat of an Australian summer, it's not unusual for matches to be played well into [relative] coolness of the night. What this means for us fans living here in NZ is that we can often be up to 2.00 in the morning.........or later. So, as the second week begins, I'm pacing myself.........gotta get through to the weekend for the finals.....

And then there'll be the French Open.......and then Wimbledon...........and then the US Open.........and none of them work paricularly well timewise for us Kiwis! But then, like so many things, you just have to get on and do it I guess!

Who needs sleep anyway?

Fifteen-love.

Postscript
Watching the power hitters in todays games has made me wonder - would they be the players they are today of they still played with the old wooden racquets (as per shot) of yesteryear? The old wooden ones didn't produce nearly so much power and the players would surely have had to play a very different strategic game to todays players. Anyone a tenni player out there?

Post-postscript!
The ball in the shot is one of the cats play balls which has spent the last who knows how many years kicking around in the garden!! Thanks for the loan boys :)
