Rosy footman

It was Cleo my Eldest grandaughter's 14th birthday today, and very hot so I didn;t go bliphunting, luckily it was warm last night, great mothing weather, and I was pleased to find a trap full of moths this morning!
Amongst the moths sitting on the clear cone of the trap was this beautiful little Rosy footman Miltochrista miniata. I always enjoy finding this moth as it is such a bright colour, and not that common,
According to the books it occurs in woodland habitats in the southern half of Britain, commonest in the seaboard counties (such as Sussex!). It has a wingspan of 23-27mm and flies in July and August.
The larvae feed on lichens on trees.
