On Holiday

We got up bright and early this morning - packed and tidied in a frenzy - and then headed off to Suffolk for the first camping trip of the Summer holidays.
We left at 8.30am. Get us!
We went in separate cars as Mr K has to go back to work on Wednesday and it was sooooooo much better! The Little Misses didn't ask me once were we nearly there, didn't talk incessantly, didn't squabble and ask for snacks every two minutes. It was lovely!
The SatNav decided to go on a tour of the tiniest roads in Suffolk after the expected route was closed which was very pretty but a bit annoying.
I'd booked a table for lunch at The Anchor in Walberswick and we met Mr K, my mum, dad and Maisie and Mrs S, Mr D, Mr M and Molly.
And we all got there for 12.30pm. Miraculous!!
Lunch was lovely. There were a few mishaps with rude waiters, lack of roasts and non appearing food but there was fantastic company, the rain held off and we were at the seaside, woohoo!!
After lunch Mrs S, Mr D, Mr M and Molly headed back to their cottage near Aldeburgh and we drove the eight miles round the estuary to our campsite - which is only about two hundred yards from the pub as the crow flies! People can go across in the row boat ferry, cars have to go the long way round!
We pitched our tent in a beautiful spot looking over the marshes to Southwold. It was mesmerising watching the beam of the lighthouse sweeping round and round.
My mum and dad were next to us in their snazzy new campervan. They pulled out their awning and put out their chairs and were ready to relax and enjoy their holiday.
We pitched the tent, blew up the airbed, unrolled bed mats, assembled the kitchen, assembled the table and chairs, unpacked all the sleeping bags, filled up the water container.....
And then sat down to relax and enjoy our holiday!!
Ha ha, we need to get a campervan!
When Miss E couldn't contain herself any longer we walked round to the harbour to go crab fishing.
Annoyingly the tide was right out and there wasn't much water to catch crabs in. We gave it a good go but came away empty handed.
The harbour looked beautiful though in the stormy evening light.
We had a few fun and games getting a couple of over excited, over tired Little Misses to go to sleep - and I had my usual "I hate camping, why do we bother coming away to argue with the children and feel miserable" - but they went quiet eventually and we had a nice evening chatting, looking at the view and watching the lighthouse.
