Summer evening

Up early and then back to work with a busy day of meetings and calls and short listing. It was a team lunch today, the first I've managed to be at for ages. We walked down to the Parliament, passed the heavily secured Diving competitors hotel, for sandwiches on the grass in the sun. We all remarked on what a great summer this has been. I'm glad we bought the fans as the office was hot and muggy today. And there was good news from the KL2 - #1 son has passed his driving test which means he'll be able to take over from #1 d-in-l as THE date gets closer.

After work it was up to the Cameo for the latest NTLive - 'Skylight', a good title as I work in a Skylight. Great play - funny, sad, happy and poignant and a cracking performance from Carey Mulligan.

Came home to capture the last of the NW summer light.

A beautiful evening - and then I heard the news about MH17. Tragedy, which feels so close because of the family out there and because I've flown Malaysian, a second plane lost. Only last night I was looking for the parents homebound flight from London and ended up tracking the 21.30 Emirates Glasgow-Dubai flight on Flight Radar and thought it was odd that the flight path was over the Ukraine.

Innocents - passengers on planes, children in Gaza, Israeli teenagers - when will we wake up and stop killing one another?
