The leaving of Aberystwyth

To pick up from yesterday - after some time at the flat to allow #3 son to be interviewed, sitting outside in the sun, we wandered down the hill (I'd abandoned the heels!) and took the funicular up Consti Hill.  It was a fantastic day for it with beautiful views across Cardigan/Ceredigion Bay.  Then a walk along the repaired Prom to Gwesty for a  celebratory glass of fizz in the garden before a lovely meal in a small, but perfectly formed dining room.  Another walk down the jetty with the tide fully out, then along the south prom, round by the castle and to a very good pub, the Ship and Castle (??), home of InterPol students.  #2 gf met us there and we went on to 'Salt'.  There was still light on the sea at 10.30.  I left before 11.30 and walked home, alone.

Today returned to normal, weatherwise, grey, overcast and wet.  I was awake early, but not as early as #2 gf who left at 6.30 to get back to Manch.  We packed up and left Aber for the last time, in the rain.

Thankfully the return journey was less eventful than Monday.  The windows of the Arriva Wales train were pretty grubby but here is the Dyfi valley, between Dovey Junction and Machynlleth.

3 hours to Wolverhampton, 30 minute wait and 3 hours 40 minutes back to Edinburgh. #3 son wrote and sent an application, I sewed.  Not a lot was said.  Don't think he's spent so long with his old mum for ages, years!

Taxi home, carry out, Coast Australia, early night, aching right arm.

Today, le regime!
