That Day

The day when all the virgin queen and male black ants fly.
On the way home from work today there were millions of ants. Landing on the setts and any bit of grass, ripping their own wings off (yikes!) and looking for a suitable spot to start another colony.
Impressively fecund.
The gulls enjoyed a feast, landing in the road and pecking the ants up, one at a time...
