Torquay

Colin came over and we set off for Torquay with the plan of morning coffee in Brixham and lunch/tea in Torquay. Things didn't quite work out that way. The ferry was running a reduced service and we had a wait for the next one. So we had morning coffee at The Offshore and listened to a Bob Dylan influenced busker who was very good.

When we arrived at the ferry point there was already a long queue so we waited patiently whilst the time came and went for when the ferry was due. After longer standing in the baking sun we decided to give it a miss and have lunch in Torquay.

We had vouchers for Pizza Express so went there and had an excellent meal, warm vegetable and goats cheese salad for me washed down with a glass of Merlot, and spent some time eating and chatting. After we walked off our lunch on the Royal Terrace Gardens Rock Walk a zig-zag walkway through the gardens positioned on the rock face with outstanding views.

Then it was back down to the harbour for an ice cream outside the fudge shop.

I took this picture of a family group crabbing off the slipway leading down into the harbour. I think its an image that goes towards summing up the British seaside holiday.
