Royal Deeside

Another lovely sunny day, so we decided to have a rest from gardening and shopping etc and go for a drive to enjoy the scenery in the sunshine. We headed for Glenshee, virtually deserted at this time of year, although the chairlift to the summit was still operating.

However, we didn't stop and drove on to Braemar and Ballater, all sparkling in the lovely weather and heaving with tourists:-) So we didn't stop there either (just slowed down to take this picture of the River Dee) and carried on to Aboyne, then turned off on the Cairn o' Mount road hoping for a stunning view to the Firth of Tay. Sadly, the haar put paid to that as we couldn't even see the coast!

As a special treat, we had the most delicious fish and chips at the Bervie Chipper and got home just in time to watch the Opening Ceremony to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Thoroughly enjoyed it all, so a great day all round!
