CULLINGWORTH

the old station sign now restored and on show in the grounds of the new Cullingworth Junior school. The school is very close to the old station which closed to passengers in 1955 and all traffic in 1963. The sign is one of two originals that were put on the station in 1925. The station was demolished in 1964 and this broken sign was found in thick undergrowth some time in the 1970's, and taken into care of the Keighley and worth valley railway.

In 2011 agreement was made between the KWVR and some local enthusiasts who wanted it back in Cullingworth. It was restored and now is in the grounds of the school. I think it is wonderful but wish it wasn't behind such awful mesh fencing. The information I've paraphrased here is on a sign next to it, all part of the great northern trail.

As you may have guessed Miss H , Angus and Reggie had our evening walk along the viaduct.
