Gymnastics

A wonderful day in good company as Mum and Abi came up to Glasgow and we all went to the gymnastics - the men's all around final, and it was fantastic! Many congrats to the medal winners Max Whitlock (gold) and Nile Wilson (bronze) of England, and most of all to Dan Keatings of Scotland who got the silver. So pleased for him. We also made it onto the TV coverage, where I am fiddling with my camera while Abi waves her saltire! Incredibly hard to choose a blip, so here are lots of them - do view large to get a bit more detail. Going L-R and then downwards, we have:
Dan Keatings helps Dan Purvis prepare the parallel bars
A bit of atmosphere - air guitar competition during one of the rotations picked on Louis Smith, who was in the audience. He did okay, but apparently a real star is one of the Welsh gymnasts.
Pommel horse warm up for the top group
More atmosphere - some Proclaimers karaoke
South African athlete Tiaan Brobler on pommel horse
Gold medal winner Max Whitlock getting incredible height during his floor routine.
Dan Purvis on rings (chosen as this is a backblip, and today (Thur) he won the bronze medal on this apparatus - which is just fantastic!)
Atmosphere - before the session started and before the medal ceremony we were treated to performances from the British acrobatic gymnastics team - how do they do that???
South African athlete Siphesihle Biyase on high bar
A New Zealand gymnast (sorry, I can't see his number!) on parallel bars
Scotland's Frank Baines on high bar
Wales' Clinton Purnell on rings
Guess who the auditorium was rooting for? :)
Dan Keating finishes his last apparatus, knowing he's done enough to get silver
Clyde shows the gymnasts how it's done
Australian gymnast Sean O'Hara in flight during his floor routine
Dan Keatings on pommel, chosen as he got the gold medal on this apparatus today, with a much harder routine than this one
The Weegie Wave makes its way around the room
Nile Wilson on England on vault - the blur is due to forgetting to put the settings back after taking a few shots of the dark auditorium, but I rather like it as a contrast to the other shots
Thrills and spills - Australia's Naoya Tsukahara comes off the pommel horse during his routine
Scores after the final rotation - major celebrations ensued
Medal ceremony
Flags being raised
A shot from the screen taken by a photographer with a better angle than me! I was very jealous of all the guys down below!

Phew, off to bed now, will get fully up to date early next week I think, but have backblipped the last 3 days now.
