Host City Volunteers

Another volunteering shift next to Clyde, this time at Bridgeton Cross. Certainly the quietest shift yet, largely due to there not being any hockey on tonight. This is Laura and Mohammed, my most international group yet, Laura is from Canada, though has been in Scotland for 7 or so years. Mohammed is from Sudan, and has been in Scotland for only 4 months, and was volunteering to help improve his English, which given the amount of time he's been here, is really, really impressive. Cold and damp day, but plenty of laughter, as well as helping folk by taking photos of them with Clyde, and handing out copies of the cycling race routes for locals trying to work out which roads will be open and which closed during the Road Race and Time Trial. Medals should be given to all the residents of the East End who have put up with so much inconvenience for the benefit of the Games. Tomorrow will be a big day, I can't wait - gymnastics...
