Looking for the pass!

1st of August is officially Yorkshire Day, and what better way to celebrate than to visit Headingley for a a Yorkshire derby in the Super League between Leeds Rhinos and fierce local rivals Bradford Bulls.

The evening was a charged one, with Leeds vying to finish top of the regular season, and Bradford newly confirmed as being relegated from Super League, so this would be the final derby for at least a year. There was a lot to play for.

After about 3 weeks of sunshine and warm weather, the elements decided to turn and it was a grey evening which gave way to steady rain, definitely not a warm barmy August evening I had hoped for, but it was quite atmospheric in the rain under the floodlights.

The rain made conditions tricky and the first half was a cagey affair which ended with the teams tied 4 apiece. The second half was similarly littered with handling errors, and ultimately Bradford ran out 20-14 winners much to the delight of a very vocal travelling support, who now have bragging rights, for how long who knows.

This is a picture of Leeds captain for the evening and main ball player Danny Maguire running with the ball looking for a pass to make.

Will catch up with journals later in the weekend when I have time.

Have a good weekend everybody
