Pleasant Dreams...

Silver Wedding Anniversary Celebrations -  Cromlix Day 2

You know when you have looked forward to something so much, for so long, that you just know it can never live up to your dreams?  Well I was fully expecting that feeling yesterday when we arrived but when we were shown round our suite I had to physically stop myself squealing with delight.   It didn't just match my expectations, it totally blew them out of the water!

After a lazy evening last night (room service) things were a little more hectic today.  Well in the latter half!

We were downstairs for a full Scottish breakfast at the crack of 10am and it was delicious.  One of the reasons we chose a hotel close to where we live is because Alan won't eat for other people so we had to pop back home to give him his lunch and dinner.

After Alan's lunch was done, D and I planned to go another run in lovely, rural Perthshire.  We started to head for Pitlochry but the weather was awful, heavy rain, mist and horrible road conditions.  We got as far as Perth and thought  stuff this and headed back to 5 star luxury where we promptly found a cosy corner in the drawing room and experienced at first hand, the joy that is afternoon tea at Cromlix.

Upstairs to read our books for a little while (no that's not a euphemism! :) before heading back home to give Alan his tea.

Whilst David dealt with Alan, I got ready for our big family dinner.  Twelve of our close family and friends were arriving at ours at 7pm for a wee glass (or two) of celebratory bubbles before we all headed out to a lovely local restaurant for dinner.

What a fantastic evening we had.  We took up one half of the restaurant, which meant we had the room to ourselves (the restaurant is spread over two rooms that once were the two public rooms of a little house on the main street) so could relax and be as loud as we liked without fear of disturbing anyone else.

As ever, the food and service was divine.  Jon and Fernanda really did us proud by providing the personal touch with table decorations, balloons, bubbles and a lovely card.   Loud laughter, lots of animated chatter and much love all in that wee space.  Truly wonderful.  We are so, so lucky.

After the meal was over, we all headed back to our house for more laughter and tales of twenty-five years, most of them funny and mostly at mine and David's expense :-)))

It felt funny to leave our house to head back to the hotel, especially as Ele, Kenny, Ishbel and John were staying at ours.  I'd left them lots of food though so know they would survive the following morning.

Got back to the hotel just after 12.30.  I was tired but very, very happy, especially knowing I was going to be spending another two nights in this bed.

It is THE comfiest bed I have EVER slept in.  Honestly, I imagine it is the closest thing to sleeping on a cloud!   Only one problem.  It is very high.  The mattress was level with my waist!  Much laughter from D as he watched me struggle to get in the damn thing!  He's such a gent, but then I knew that when I married him :-)))
