Morning on the pond

Made the early morning walk today and as usual we ended up at Coppice Pond to feed the ducks and geese.

When we approached the water at the eastern end I was taken by this line of Canada Geese; Mum and Dad at either end and the four (quite large) young in the middle.

At the other end we always stop at the feeding station to feed them. Lots of ducks left the banks where they were sleeping and some flew down the lake. You can see in the inset shot a group of geese heading towards us and at the back of this are the family previously spotted still in their line formation.

I don't know how many young they had but they have done an excellent job of keeping these four youngsters safe.
