A view from Jeanneb

A morning adventure.

A new walk this morning a little off our usual turf.

This one came from a Bradford walks website and started just above Thornton village.

We headed across the fields to Squirrel Lane passing lovely converted houses and farms and then down Pitt Lane to West Scholes and more old and converted buildings. See Corinthian Column. This post box was in one of the gardens, not in use but making a very attractive garden feature.

The track led down to the old railway line and this is now part of the Great Northern Rail Trail like the one in nearby Cullingworth. It also crosses a viaduct, the Thornton Viaduct instead of the more familiar ( to us ) Hewenden Viaduct. It seems well used with a place to stop for tea and ice creams (need to bring money next time), what a shame they haven't been able to join up the two tracks yet.

The weather was a little dull to start with but we had a most enjoyable explore.

Happy weekend everyone.
