But, then again . . . . .

Not Around Here It Isn't.

My nephew arrived by bike today having just cycled through the Highlands and Islands of Scotland on a 1,300 km audax. The maximum time allowed for the venture corresponds to an average speed of 15 kph. He was on a new bike built for the purpose, dynohub with a USB port to drive his phone and satnav, hub gears, puncture-proof tyres - everything. But everything has its price, the bike is heavier than my racing trike.

Anyway, Mrs TD sent us down to the pub for tea so that we wouldn't disturb her while talking about bikes. I did suggest to Said Nephew that we cycled down as he only had cycling shoes with him but he declined and we walked. This van is parked on this corner every night and has been on my list of emergency blips for some time, today it has its day. The only problem is that our broad-band is slow and unreliable, ask Jnr, he plays a lot of on-line poker and every time the internet drops out, he loses the hand. I wouldn't like it to be thought that he is a gambling addict, on a bad day he has been known to lose several pounds; it's not the money that upsets him, it's the indignity.
