"Come and get it...."

After yesterday when we spent much of the day walking round the old town of Dubrovnik in the heat, we chose a more restful acitivity today, taking a boat trip round some of the Elaphiti islands. The trip lasted much of the day and included stops on Koločep, Lopud and Ŝipan. Two of the stops were quite brief - the first giving the boat crew time to prepare our lunch and the second time to clear up (we guessed). The third, lengthy visit was to Lopud, which we actually felt was probably the least attractive as it was the most developed, with shops and stalls aimed at tourists, whereas Koločep and Ŝipan were relatively quiet and undeveloped (and more to our taste). However it was enjoyable travelling along the coastline, enjoying a bit of sea breeze to cool us down.

The lunch served on the boat was freshly grilled mackerel - which we thoroughly enjoyed. At the end of the meal, one of the crew offered some of the leftover pieces to the circulating gulls (as shown here) - but most of the birds were too nervous to take the tit bits from his hand and he ended up throwing the food for them to catch.

After returning to the hotel and enjoying a swim in the pool, we strolled back into town for another excellent meal in a different restaurant by the old port.
