Year 2, Day 204 - Smokies?

The teenagers wanted to go 'shopping' in Kirkwall this morning... I picked up some "Really Garlicky Tomato Chutney" from a cafe opposite the cathedral - YUM!!!

After a quick lunch, we headed to the Ring of Brodgar and it was a wee bit wet... So glad I brought my waterproof trousers!!!! After a quick walk around we decided to find something indoors to do so we then went to Kirbister Farm Museum. It was well worth the visit - we spent ages there and it's only a small place! Apparently it is still in the state it was left in in the 1960's. No electricity, no running water, no toilet... Yet it looks like it is much older than that!

It had dried up a bit by the time we got back in the car, so we took a drive out to the Broch of Gurness then headed to a place called 'Happy Valley' which is a gorgeous little woodland recommended by PW and I would hazard a guess where Happy Valley takes her journal name from. Aonghus had a ball there - he much prefers woodland to beaches.

Home for tea then some went to the cinema to see the new Transformers movie and the rest of stayed here hoping for (but not really expecting) a sunset...

Hopefully the rain won't be as bad tomorrow!
