1984

Backblip

More rain. Perhaps you can sense a theme developing here?
Anyway, it was a drive up to the north of the peninsula today to take in the amazing archaeological landscape around Kilmartin. Too damp to walk over the fields examining cairns, orthostats and henges, sadly, but a lovely wee museum, with some good artefacts and explanations, and then a wander around the local churchyard to examine the knights' graveslabs.
Next a trip to see the re-introduced beavers (or at least where they live) and then down to Crinan.
The little white house, here, is where George Orwell stayed when he wrote 1984. It's across the water on Jura. I had always been given to understand that it was enormously remote. I guess it is in some ways, but with a boat from here it would only have been about 3 hours from Glasgow, even in the 1940s
