Away Day I - Caerleon Pétanque

Away game tonight ...only our second away game of the season. It was plate competition night. We had already lost our cup game earlier in the season. We crashed out of the plate competition 3-1 tonight too.

We lost the first game in a bit of a tussle 13-9. It really could have gone either way at the half way stage, but our opposition kept their consistency as you would expect on their piste and we kept running out of boules.

The second match was bizarre. Dad and Clive had already lost so were out of the competition. We were 10-1 down, and looking like our worse defeat was on the cards. Dawn had pointed a cracker, they had thrown their six boules. We thought time to make the score respectable and try and get to at least 4 points to equal our worse defeat. We managed to point in a full house and get a 6 ... 10-7 to Caerleon. The next end action replay .. Only we just picked up a 5 ... 10-12 to us. The shot boule went back and forth between Dawn and their pointer on the next end. But they run out of boules first. I had 3 boules in hand. There was only one option ... Shoot for match. I lined it up and bang it was gone. An utterly remarkable turn around on three ends!

It was a great game played in a good spirit as most games are.
