Now and Then

This is Blake Dean, Hardcastle Crags, Hebden Bridge.
The blip is from the banks of Hebden Water and shows the foundation piers of the Trestle Bridge - which you can see in the old photograph.
The bridge was built of pitch pine and was 105 ft high and 700ft long. Its purpose was to carry a single track railway that transported men and materials who were building three new reservoirs on the moor.
It was demolished in 1912.
