Siesta time

A lazy image for a lazy day. We were invited to a birthday party for multiple members of a family whose birthdays all end in zero this year: 10, 40, 60, 70. C and G live in a house they built themselves when they moved here in the 1970s. No mains electricity, no running water, but they raised three children here. One of things I like about them is that they are true to themselves, and truly original -- they don't do things in an ordinary way.

The party spread out around their garden and lasted all day. At lunchtime it was sunny but breezy, and plates and glasses occasionally whirled off the tables. There was plenty of space to spread out, and this guest took a little timeout when it all got too much. So did we; we went home for a little siesta at about 6, and returned at 8. More food and interesting conversation, this time on the terrace by the house. The wind had dropped but it was still surprisingly cool for an August evening. We're having strange weather this summer

We eventually got home about half past eleven. Not a lot else got done today. Very relaxing!
