Father and son

There were other photos today but I keep coming back to this one of Alexander and his Dad, Johnnie.

It's late Saturday night and I'm home again after 26 hours in Dunedin (well, the southern edge). We've packed so much in it feels like a long weekend. Spike cooked an endless dinner spread over last evening then Johnnie and I put the world right the help of a very fine single malt ;-)

Today we took a sedate trip out onto Otago Peninsula in a 1955 Wolseley Six Ninety in original condition. Car travel as it should be. We toured the Otago University marine aquarium, picniced, wandered around the sleepy sea-side settlement of Porobello, either had ice cream or a coffee and then took the scenic route home via som very steep and narrow roads along the top of the peninsula. The views were stunning, weather perfect and it was a complete joy to be there and share a very special birthday treat day.

In this image Alex is sitting in the middle front seat next to his Dad and his friend is in the 'co-pilot' seat. Cars of a certain age and older are required to have seat belts (other than the driver) so this was allowed. Us 'girls' were in the back.

If you look very closely you might pick a bit of a blipper caught in the rear view mirror ;-)

Hopefully I can catch up with a bit of commenting tomorrow. I've backblipped

Thursday - Last of the cherries

Friday - The birthday boy

'night.
