Ramblings and Mutterings

Spa Francorchamps

The Circuit of Spa Francorchamps is one of the most iconic race circuits, and also one of the most beautiful. It’s got status and history like Monaco and most drivers want to win there. Today was qualifying for tomorrow’s Grand Prix, and as usual at Spa the weather played its part as just half an hour before qualifying it absolutely chucked it down, and yes I did get soaked.

I was lucky to get tickets at one of the greatest corners in Formula One history, Eau Rouge. No photos can do it justice, its steep and there’s a blind crest and the drivers shoot up there at full speed. Crazy! I loved it!

By the end of the day though I was flipping shattered! It was a long day yesterday, made even longer by the party that was going on behind the hotel last night; it finally finished at 6am in the morning. We then had an early start to the circuit, which took 3 hours because of traffic. I finally made it back to the hotel in the evening at 8:30pm.

This was the scene after the rain had disappeared before qualifying.
